This site is a design showcase. Dave’s Garage Doors is an invented brand, and this policy explains, in plain words, what happens to information when you visit. The short version: the site sets no cookies, runs no analytics or advertising, and its quote form does not send or save anything.
Who runs this site
This website is run by Chamberlin Design LLC, a web design studio in Michigan (“Chamberlin Design,” “we” or “us”). We built it to show what a website for a local garage door company can look like. There is no garage door business behind it. The names, people, phone number, email address, street address, prices and reviews on the site are samples, and any resemblance to a real business is not intended.
What we collect
Things you type
The quote form on the Contact page is part of the design, not a working form. When you press the button, the site checks that the name and phone fields are filled in, then shows a note that this is a showcase. What you typed stays in your browser and is never sent to us or anyone else.
Calls and emails
The phone number is a fictional 555 number and the email address is a reserved example address. Tapping either one opens a short note instead of your phone or email app, so nothing is sent.
Information sent automatically
Like every website, the servers that deliver these pages receive basic technical details from your browser with each request: your IP address, the type of browser and device, the page you asked for, the page that linked you here, and the date and time. Our hosting provider, Vercel Inc., processes these details to deliver the site, keep it running and protect it from abuse. We do not use them to identify you or to build a profile of you.
Cookies and storage
This site does not set cookies. It uses no analytics, no advertising and no tracking pixels, which is why there is no cookie banner. If that ever changes, a banner will ask first, and rejecting will be as easy as accepting.
The only thing the site stores is a single setting in your browser’s session storage, and only if you press the pause button on the moving banner on the home page. The key is daves-motion-paused. It keeps the banner paused while the tab is open, is deleted when you close the tab, and never leaves your device.
The site’s fonts and photos are served from the site itself, so your browser does not contact Google Fonts or any other outside service to show them. There are no maps, videos or social media widgets.
How information is used
The technical details described above are used only to:
- deliver the pages you ask for, in the right size for your screen;
- keep the site secure and stop abuse, such as automated attacks; and
- fix problems when something breaks.
We never use them for marketing, and we never combine them with other information to learn who you are.
Sharing and selling
We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for targeted advertising, and we have not done so in the past twelve months. The only company that handles information from this site on our behalf is our hosting provider, Vercel Inc., which may only use it to provide its service to us. We would also disclose information if the law required it, for example in response to a valid court order.
How long it is kept
Our host keeps request logs for a short period set by its service plan, then deletes them. We keep nothing else, because the site collects nothing else.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act and similar laws in other states give you the right to ask what personal information a business holds about you, to ask for a copy, to ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. Because this site does not collect personal information through forms, cookies or analytics, there is usually nothing for us to find. You are still welcome to ask, and we will answer. We will never treat you differently for using these rights.
Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
We honor Global Privacy Control signals as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Because this site never sells or shares information and runs no tracking, a signal does not change how the site works. For the same reason, there is nothing for a Do Not Track signal to turn off.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Every page is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. No method of sending data over the internet is perfect, but because the site collects so little, there is very little to protect.
Links to other sites
The “See the case study” link and the “by Chamberlin Design” badge open chamberlin.design, which has its own privacy policy. We are not responsible for how other websites handle information.
Changes to this policy
If the site changes, for example by adding analytics or a working form, we will update this policy and the date at the top before the change goes live.
